Nintendo recently surprised fans with more news regarding the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is already pretty exciting as it is, but it seems it’ll be better with a Season Pass. One of the add-ons in the Season Pass is a new story. Will the new story in the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Season Pass star the anticipated female Link?
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Season Pass will include a few interesting items. Perhaps the most interesting of all in the $20 Season Pass is the DLC pack 2 which adds new ways to enjoy the game. Nintendo is yet to expound on the contents of the DLC packs, but we have our guesses as to what they could be.
DLC pack 2, which launches during the holiday season, will include new dungeons, additional challenges, and a new story. The last of these could be the most interesting to fans as it will serve as an expansion to the game. What the story could be is hard to guess now, but based on the request of fans, we could be getting a female Link story.
Even series creator Eiji Aonuma showed interest in creating a story for a female version of Link. In an interview with Waypoint a month ago, Aonuma said, “regarding the future possibility of us taking a Zelda title in a new direction, perhaps with Link as someone different, or with a new protagonist altogether who’s radically different from what we’ve seen before, on the Wii U there’s already Hyrule Warriors. A female protagonist is definitely the direction Nintendo is headed to.”
If the developer does release a DLC centered around a female Link, it wouldn’t be the first time players will get their hands on a female version of the silent protagonist. Linkle is the female version of Link made exclusively for the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors.
Aside from these add-ons, Nintendo is also including other special stuff for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Season Pass. The first of these will be available at launch day. Players will be able to get their hands on helpful items if they decide to get a Season Pass, so it’s definitely worth it.
As for the first DLC pack, it will launch this summer. When it comes to content, the first DLC pack includes new Cave of Trials challenges, a new hard mode, and a new map feature that Nintendo is yet to reveal.
