We all know how passionate anime fans are with regards to their devotion to the characters, the story and the aftermath of the series. Yuri on Ice has gained a crazy amount of followers. Now, this army is ranting?that a movie by Hallmark Channel is a rip-off of their beloved anime series.

The summary of Hallmark Channel’s original movie has a similar take on the anime. Their official?website?gives the following synopsis:???Former figure skating champion, Emily James, now 27 years old and considered a relic in the world of figure skating, gets an improbable shot to reclaim skating glory when a young coach sees greatness in her. Together, they find their love of skating goes far beyond the ice.??The movie ?Love on Ice? is a Hallmark Channel original film. The US viewers will expect the movie to premier by January 7.

The plot of the movie is undeniably similar to?the anime. The age of Yuri Katsuki (23) is not far from Emily James (27). They are both trying to make their professional comeback. Furthermore, ?both their coaches saw ?greatness? in them. Finally, they both fall in love with their respective coaches during the whole process.

But there are also differences to the story line itself. First off, the main character of the movie did not have any self-pity/self-regret towards herself as compared to Yuri. Another is that Emily’s coach is not a figure skating superstar like Viktor. The most obvious difference is that Love on Ice?is a relationship between a man and a woman, not a gay love story.

Fans have instantly went to Twitter and expressed their disappointment towards the movie. They also immediately made a petition to cancel the movie through It immediately received a whopping 3,640 support petitions from YOI fans and is currently undergoing investigation.
