Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi recently unveiled the next generation of its flagship at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. The new Mi5 flagship, which has impressed most critics, has not officially launched in the West yet. However, president Bin Lin revealed the price range of the new device for launch in India.
The lucrative mobile market of India is a stronghold of Xiaomi Mi5. Bin Lin has revealed the price range to be somewhere around RS. 20,000 to 27,000 in India. The reveal came in an interview with national newspaper Economic Times.
Xiaomi Mi5 comes in 3 three variants ? 32GB, 62GB and a 128GB version. Bin Lin didn?t reveal the price range of the three devices or if all of the variants will be launched in India. Lin has also confirmed that the device will be launched in April, as reported by TOI. ?
Mi5, Xiaomi?s new flagship, packs a punch at nearly half the rate of other premium devices like iPhone 6s and Samsung S7. The company offers two different makes: Ceramic and Metal body.
The 5.15 inch-screen is a beautiful display and runs a modified version of Android Lollipop-based MIUI 7 software. There is no news about an update to Android Marshmallow but the smoothness of Xiaomi?s software more than makes up for the lack of Marshmallow.
The device comes with a 16 megapixel rear camera and ?5 megapixel selfie camera. The camera is boosted by 4-axis optical image stabilization for blur free photo and videos. The camera is capable of recording 4k video as well as 120fps slo-mo videos.
The phone is set to compete with phones like Samsung?s A series, One plus 2, Nexus 5x and Honor 7. The device has an advantage over its competition because of the superior chipset that it flaunts. The device comes in three storage options as well. Verge gave it a score of 8.1/10 in its review. It is expected to launch in April this year.
