Rumors of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer launching their flagship laptop line?the Mi Notebook?have been ongoing for a while now with several leaks revealing that its makeup is similar to Apple?s Macbook Air.
Xiaomi recently shared Weibo?s post announcing an event on July 27 for the launch of the Redmi Pro alongside a ?mysterious small partner.? Reports are speculating that the mysterious device could be the forthcoming laptop from the company as there have been more leaks for the Mi Notebook over the past few days.
While it still seemed pretty far fetched since Xiaomi didn?t officially announce anything regarding a laptop, a recent Chinese report seems to be confirming the release of the Mi device. A new report out of China suggested that Xiaomi is expecting their total shipments of the laptop to cross the 1 million mark, according to GSMArena.
The said report cited the supply chain sources which further revealed that laptop will be available in 12.5-inch and 13-inch variants. The 13-inch model features a metal build, powered by Core-i7 6500 processor and 8GB RAM running the Windows 10 OS. The smaller variant is apparently aimed at the gamers, according to the report.
Other leaks have also suggested similar features though there is variance in the screen sizes of the laptop. A report from srsexclusives.com reveals that the Mi Notebook will be available in 11 inches and 12.5/13 inches with the latter supporting a Full HD display but without the touchscreen support.
The site further revealed leaked images listing the specifications of the laptop. The laptop device is said to be featuring an Intel Skylake U Series Core i7 processor (Core i7-6500U) clocked at 2.50 GHz (3.0GHz Max). The processor includes an integrated GPU called HD Graphics 520 which offers performance in range of a dedicated GeForce 820M. The GPU will be able to handle 2015 games smoothly although in low settings. The device is also listed with 8GB RAM and Windows 10 OS.
Other features include the USB Type-C port which promises data transfer faster than USB 3.0 as well as faster charging delivering up to 100 watts of power. Xiaomi also had filed a patent for an ?intelligent charging adapter? though what it will be remains to be seen.
Update: New render photos of the Mi Notebook have emerged via Gizmo China with specs details and pricing. A leaked Powerpoint Presentation shows top end version of laptop?powered by an Intel core i7-6700HQ processor with GTX 970 graphics card. The high-end Notebook will also feature a 16GB RAM, 512GB Hard disk drive and a display with 4K resolution.
