You?re probably still waiting for the Xiaomi Mi 5 to turn up, but it looks like the Chinese smartphone maker has other things in mind. The company, which enjoyed a very successful 2014, has just announced a handful of gadgets including the Mi Note PRO, a phablet model with features that scream high-end in many aspects.
Four new products unveiled
To sum it up, the company has just introduced three types of devices. The lineup is comprised of two smartphone models, a tiny set-up box, and a new type of headphones. The standard Mi Note model sports the same 5.7-inch display as the specced up Mi Note PRO. The Mi Box Mini is the small version of Xiaomi?s Mi Box and works like power adapter.
Meanwhile, the Mi Headphones is made with 50mm large beryllium diaphragm speakers which the company claims to be a good accessory to the new handsets. In this case, we?ll shift our focus more on the Mi Note PRO and its incredible aesthetics and specifications.
Mi Note PRO specs
Xiaomi touted this model as ?the best smartphone in the world to date.? To support that claim, the company equipped the device with the latest 64-bit, octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm, a massive 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, and a 5.7-inch 2K display (2560×1440 resolution) with a stunning 515ppi pixel density.
On the photography front, the Mi Note PRO a 13-megapixel camera with IMX214 sensor from Sony, optical image stabilization (OIS), and dual-tone flash. Photos and videos taken by the phone?s front cam will also be sharp thanks to its 4-megapixel sensor.
The new handset boasts of a beautifully designed body that?s made with a combination of 2.5D (front) and 3D curved glass (back). A metallic frame is there to support the handset?s bezel.
The rest of the device?s remarkable specs include LTE Cat.9 connectivity (can deliver up to 40mbps download speed), the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS topped with Xiaomi?s own MIUI, Hi-Fi audio, and 3,000 mAH battery.
Price and availability
Pre-orders will open on January 20 in China and shipping will begin on the 27th. The Mi Note PRO is available in 64GB variant and retails for CNY 3,300 or approximately $530. We?re still waiting for an official announcement from Xiaomi about the device?s release in other markets. Given the company?s history, there?s no doubt the the new handset will be released internationally just like how they did with their other flagship devices such as the Mi 3 and Mi 4.
