Xiaomi?s latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 6, is already in the works. Although details regarding the Mi 6 features and specifications have been emerged in series of leaks, the release date remains unclear so far. While earlier reports indicated a March launch, the latest developments say the Mi6 is coming soon as early as February.
Xiaomi Mi6 Valentine?s release date
The Chinese smartphone is now rumored to unveil the Xiaomi Mi6 on the Valentine?s Day, which is February 14. The leak comes in after the famous tipster KJuma shared a new teaser poster on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, reports BGR. The poster shows a big and bold number 6 drawn in the middle with date February 14 mentioned at the bottom. However, this cannot be confirmed as the poster does not come from official Xiaomi page.
On the other hand, several other sources are saying Mi6 will only be unveiled in March, possibly at the Mobile World Congress. Although it was initially supposed to arrive in February, Xiaomi has pushed the commercial launch to April. The perceived delay is all because Samsung can not make enough of Snapdragon 835 chipsets. Samsung?s low production capacity for SD 835 will even affect its own Galaxy S8.
Xiaomi Mi6 in three SoC variants
The same leakster @KJuma reported that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will come with three processor variants. The leakster now said the three variants dubbed Xiaomi Mi 6S, Mi 6E, and Mi 6P will be launched. The device was earlier tipped to house only Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 835 chipset.
The Mi 6 label will remain consistent across all models while the following alphabet will indicate the type of chipset. The Mi 6S will be powered by Qualcomm?s Snapdragon SoC while the Mi 6E will have MediaTek?s Helio SoC. The E moniker could also mean the Exynos chipset.
The Mi 6P is speculated to house Xiaomi?s own Pinecone SoC. The Chinese smartphone maker is rumored to be working on their own chipset, similar to Huawei which makers Kirin SoC.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Features
Leaked photos of the Xiaomi Mi 6 hint further features and specifications of the device. A 2.5D curved display and physical home button with embedded fingerprint scanner headline the front. The Mi 6 also features a dual tone design with metal back while some speculate a metal and glass design.
Reports even indicate of a dual camera setup though the leaked image did not appear to show this. Possibly, there would be two display variants similar to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would debut. The higher end version of Mi 6 could feature the rumored dual camera.
The device will come with Quick Charge 4.0, which allegedly offers up to five hours of usage or more with just five minutes of charging. Also in the books is the 4K resolution display, but it is unlikely that the Chinese manufacturer would introduce such a feature. It is further speculated that the Mi 5 successor will boast up to 6GB of RAM. Of course, these details are not confirmed yet, but stay tuned for more updates and leaks on the same.
