Chinese company Xiaomi is reportedly working on a successor to its latest flagship smartphone Mi 5, dubbed as Xiaomi Mi 5s. Though earlier rumors suggested a 5.15-inch screen size similar to the Mi5, according to the latest leaks, the Mi 5s is expected to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display.
The all new variant of Mi 5 was leaked last month and all other features and specifications regarding the new mobile device appear to be the same, according to the latest leaks. The Mi 5s is rumored to be equipped with the ?Force Touch? touchscreen, the technology that works similar to Apple?s ?3D Touch? technology that was introduced with the launch of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
The new Force Touch technology allows the device to distinguish between a light and a strong touch.
Another highlight features of the Xiaomi Mi 5s include the Qualcomm?s ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as well as the dual camera setup of the primary camera. Other than that, the new mobile device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC along with a 6GB RAM. Other specifications will remain the same as that of the Mi 5 as the device will be packed with 3000mAh battery supporting Quick Charge technology and the selfie camera remains the same with its 4MP shooter in the front. The phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the now familiar MIUI 7 OS skin running atop.
In addition to the Mi 5s, the company is also working to release the Mi Note 2, the successor to last year?s Mi Note. The device is expected to come in three variants – standard, high and top-end.
While the standard variant is expected to feature a single rear camera setup, Hi-Fi chip and quick charging, the higher end model will pack a dual camera setup.
The Mi Note 2 is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC but with variances in RAM supporting 3GB, 4GB and 6GB for different models. Other than that, the device will pack a 5.7-inch screen though it is still not known whether or not we will see a QHD display from Xiaomi. The rear camera is expected to be 16MP sensor and the device will be backed by a 4000mAh battery.
Both devices, the Mi 5s and the Mi Note 2, are expected to be released soon in July, according to the latest reports. Xiaomi had lately taken to the Chinese social media website Weibo to tease new smartphones though they didn?t reveal any names. The teaser image shared on Weibo carries the tagline, 2>5 which could mean anything, but our likely guess is Xiaomi will be launching either of these two phones soon.
Previously, Xiaomi co-founder and president Lin Bin had revealed plans to unveil a new high-performance flagship in July so either one of the two devices could hit the market soon. Or, Xiaomi could even release the latest Mi Notebook, a photo of which was leaked a few days back and looks similar to Apple?s Macbook Pro.
Meanwhile, the company has also released a new phablet, Mi Max with a 6.44-inch screen which you can check out here.
