Good news for Xbox One players, as Microsoft officials now offer free game trials for game developers. According to the announcement, Microsoft allows game developers to create free trials for Xbox One that can be upgraded to full version. Players will now be able to play the game for a limited feature until they decide to purchase the full version of the game.

It is much more convenient for the players, as they are no longer required to purchase a game that might end up back on its box for being so lame. Xbox One supported full game downloads and demos since launch. Game trials were not part of their features back then.

However, the announcement only covers Xbox One and not Xbox 360. Xbox 360 players will not be able to enjoy the said support.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Microsoft ID@Xbox director, Chris Charla, announced that they would now start offering game trials.

?In the same way that we update the Xbox One OS every month, they update the development system every month – or regularly, anyway. So that’s something that we recently turned on. I don’t think we’ve seen any ID@Xbox games yet that have shipped with trials, but we may well in the future. It’s something that’s open to everybody.”

According to Charla, they are now putting a lot of effort to make ID@Xbox games easier to discover. However, they do not plan to segregate indie games from the rest. They just made an option that allows you to search ID@Xbox games only.

ID@Xbox receives continuous support and popularity despite of the ?indie launch parity? controversy it faced back when it launched. More than 65 developers moved in since February. There are ?hundreds? of ID@Xbox games being developed, according to Charla. With all of these options available, players will have a lot of games to choose from without spending too much money.
