We’re halfway through June and in over a week or so, Microsoft is announcing three to four games for its subscribers again. This month, we got Speedrunners, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed III, Dragon Age Origins, and DLC for Phantom Dust. Guessing the Xbox Games With Gold July 2017 lineup is a bit tricky, since the company likes to release AAA titles, with a few indie gems. But we’re hoping that one of these, if not all, will be included next month.
Dead Space 2 is a science fiction survival horror video game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts in 2011. Set three years after the first game, this installment centers on lead character Isaac Clarke as he fights a Necromorph outbreak on a space station called the Sprawl. Unlike its predecessor, Dead Space 2 features a multiplayer mode, pitting two four-player teams of human Sprawl Security forces and the Necromorphs against each other in different locations and scenarios.
Released in 2008, the third major installment in the Fallout series was probably the most anticipated game of its time. It is set in the year 2277, 200 years after the Great War, on the East Coast of what used to be the United States, mostly in the ruins of Washington, D.C. and much of the countryside to the west of it, also known as the Capital Wasteland. The gameplay features include real-time combat and first or third person perspective, in contrast to the previous games, which were turn-based and isometric.
There have been rumors that Fallout 5 is in the works, but it’s all hearsay at this point. A Fallout 3 in the Xbox Games With Gold July 2017 lineup would nice while awaiting announcements.
Injustice: Gods Among Us
Injustice: Gods Among Us is an action fighting video game from the House of Mortal Kombat, based on the DC Comics universe. In an alternate world, Superman is pissed off at Joker for tricking him into killing Lois Lane, their unborn child, and the metropolis. Batman summons counterparts of other superheroes from the other universe to join his insurgency in an attempt to stop the totalitarian regime. The sequel, Injustice 2, was released last month.
Dishonored: Definitive Edition
This 2102 stealth action-adventure video game was developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Set in a fictional town of Dunwall, the game follows Corvo Attano who is framed for the death of Empress of the Isles, Jessamine Kaldwin. He escapes from prison and takes revenge on those who had framed him for the crime he did not commit. Along the way, Corvo rescues the daughter of the Empress, Emily, who we learn in Dishonored 2 happens to be his. The girl gets kidnapped again so Corvo rescues her.
The Evil Within
Directed by Shinji Mikami of the iconic Resident Evil 4, The Evil Within is a third-person survival horror game that follows protagonist Sebastian Castellanos in an investigation that pulls him into a distorted world full of nightmarish locations and horrid creatures. Bethesda has officially announced the sequel, Evil Within 2, for an October 13, 2017 release during its E3 2017 presentation. It’d be nice revisit the original game before the second installment hits the shelves this fall.
