It was an unforgettably traumatic day for 19-year-old Shayla Wiggins after she found a dead body floating in Wind River in Wyoming while she was playing the hugely popular gaming app Pokemon Go yesterday.
Shayla, who has been living with her mom Shawna Wiggins at the B&K Trailer Park, tells the website County 10 that she woke up Friday morning to play Pokemon Go?an augmented reality game that requires players to walk around and search for Pokemons to capture.
Upon checking the map in her smartphone, Shayla saw that there were many Pokemons waiting to be discovered in her immediate vicinity. She decided to come out and search for a Pokemon nearby, which turned out was located close to a river.
When she got near the river, the Wyoming teen saw something unusual and spine-tingling. It was a dead body partially submerged in the water.
According to County 10:
?I was trying to get a Pok?mon from a natural water resource,” she explained. She said that she jumped over the fence to go towards the river in search of a Pok?mon.
?I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water,” Shayla said. “I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body.?
?She said the figure was floating about three feet from the shore and it looked like an average size male body. She reports that she thinks the man was native, but she can’t be certain. She saw a black shirt and black pants. All of the body was reportedly submerged except for part of his back and butt.?
Shayla knew right away how to react in such a situation. She immediately called up 911 and told the authorities where the body was. When the police came, Shayla went to the scene with them.
Through the police?s initial investigation, Shayla learned that the dead body had been in the water for not more than 24 hours. While she felt that she did the right thing by reporting it to the police right away, her gruesome discovery still left her traumatized.
?I was pretty scared and cried for a while,? she admitted.
