A ton of new WWE 2K18 details have been revealed, and they could make the next installment a standout game. Now that 2K Games are ditching the PS3 and Xbox 360, the developers have managed to add a ton of new things. Most of these will put a smile on the faces of wrestling fans, though a few omissions might disappoint them as well, which is somewhat expected for a yearly series.
The SmackDown Hotel has confirmed that we will see a brand new graphics engine, something fans have been clamoring for. While the wrestlers from 2K15 to 2K17 looked good, the developers have promised NBA 2K levels of detail, which should be amazing. 8-Man matches have also been confirmed, a feature we haven’t seen since SmackDown! Just Bring It on the PS2, so that should add to the chaotic nature of the WWE.
Fans were also promised vague details, like how the game will be the “most realistic WWE experience ever,” as well as the “biggest WWE in-game roster by far.” No specific number was given, but we will see close to 200 superstars apparently, so that’s pretty good news. With a number of stars that can be chosen from Raw, SmackDown, NXT – plus the legends – we could get a stacked roster.
Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing modes like General Manager Mode or Create-A-Finisher this year, two features that fans have wanted back for sometime. That trend will continue this year, so here is hoping that the new modes added will make fans happy enough to not miss those beloved gameplay features. WWE 2K17 showed that the lack of a Showcase Mode can really hurt these titles, so WWE 2K18 needs something just as good, if not better.
WWE 2K18 will be out on October 21, with Kurt Angle as this year’s pre-order superstar. The game will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version possibly coming afterwards.
