When it was announced that WWE 2K17 wouldn’t be having Showcase Mode this year, fans assumed that Universe or My Career would be the main game mode. It seems like that might not be the case, as something related to Suplex City has been teased by the developers. As Showcase Mode is not in this year’s game, will we see a Suplex City mode?
Aside from the various images 2K Games have been sharing to tease the game’s roster, this video from WhatCulture has brought up a possibility that we could see a Suplex City mode in the game. What the mode will be like has yet to be clarified, though one can assume that Brock Lesnar will be a big part of it. He is the cover star after all and will be headlining a SummerSlam match with Randy Orton this coming Sunday.
It will be interesting to see if Suplex City is a collection of matches that leads to a showdown with ?The Beast Incarnate,? or if it will be story-driven and objective-based, like last year’s 2K Showcase. So far, no details about the possible mode has been revealed, but it would be a nice alternative to have, since some fans don’t enjoy Universe or My Career.
Of course, WWE 2K17 could always take some cues from WWE 2K14 and make it similar to the Beat The Streak mode that was in that game. That mode featured a ridiculously powerful version of The Undertaker that fans had to beat. This version of ?The Deadman? could make the lights flicker, kick out of numerous finishers and even break pinfalls through mystical means.
Will Suplex City have a dominant version of Brock Lesnar to beat? It would be a fun mode to play with, especially those that enjoy a challenge. Whether this becomes an actual mode or not, fans can expect Brock Lesnar to have a big presence in this year’s installment.
WWE 2K17 is slated for an October 11 release for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Fans who pre-order the game can get Goldberg as a playable character. There is also the NXT edition of the game that has Shinsuke Nakamura, Apollo Crews and Nia Jax as special DLC characters, in addition to Goldberg.
