WWE 2K17: Who Should Be The Next Cover Star?

By on

Ever since WWE 13 made a big deal about its cover in an episode of Monday Night Raw, the people in WWE have made it clear that being on the cover of their video games is a big deal. Since 2K Games took over, fans have seen The Rock, John Cena and ?Stone Cold? Steve Austin grace the covers of their video games.

The real question is who should be in the cover of WWE 2K17? Now that 2K Games has used the biggest stars from the past and the present, it should now look to the future. Here are a number of superstars who will likely grace the cover of this year?s game.

Roman Reigns

Rumor has it that the master of the Superman Punch and the Spear was supposed to grace the cover of WWE 2K16, but his continued mixed reception from audiences led the company to choose Steve Austin instead. In hindsight it was the better choice, since the Showcase centered on the ?Texas Rattlesnake?.

While Reigns continues to get mixed reactions from fans, he is slowly winning them over. His work rate has improved and when the writing works in his favor, he can look like a legit ass-kicker. If his storylines improve by the end of the year, it wouldn?t be much of a surprise to see Reigns become the cover star of WWE 2K17.

Dean Ambrose

As the writing team tries to find a way to get Roman Reigns over, former indie star Dean Ambrose had already managed to do that. His independent background and in-ring skills gained him a number of fans on the Internet, while his good looks and glutton for punishment attitude has won over the mainstream crowd as well.

Fans are still wondering why ?The Lunatic Fringe? isn?t in the main event of WrestleMania 32, though he?s set to have a show-stealing match with Brock Lesnar. With his popularity continuing to rise, there?s a good chance that he will grace the cover of this year?s game.

Finn Balor

The current NXT champion was heavily promoted as one of the stars of WWE 2K16, despite not being on the cover. He was one of the first superstars announced for the wrestling simulator and is one of the most fun characters to use in the game, thanks to his awesome entrance and move-set.

Easily the most popular superstar in NXT, many are predicting that he will be making his way to the main roster soon. With his star continuing to rise, no one would blame the folks at 2K for putting ?The Demon? in this year?s cover.

Shane McMahon

Far from a future star, Shane-O-Mac received a standing ovation when he returned to Raw a few weeks ago. In one night, the man became one of the most popular faces in the WWE and many are looking forward to his Hell in a Cell match with Undertaker in WrestleMania 32.

While many are expecting this to be a one-off program, his positive reactions from the audience might be enough to make him the cover star of WWE 2K17. At the least, he?ll be a playable character in this year?s game for sure.
