WWE 2K17 Hall of Fame Showcase: New Superstars, Updated Attires And What To Expect

By on

It seems like the WWE 2K17 Hall of Fame Showcase will be the meatiest bit of DLC for the game. Unlike previous years, this is the only Showcase Mode for the game, which surprised many a fan. Still, it should be fun for old-school wrestling fans and it will be a nice history lesson for younger fans.

While a release date hasn’t been revealed yet, fans are still somewhat excited for the DLC. Granted, it doesn’t have the freshness of the Future Stars Pack, but it should still be fun at least. Considering the lack of a proper Showcase Mode in the main game, this should fill that hole quite nicely.

Old School Is Cool And Sometimes New

For those unaware, there are several new characters that will be introduced in the DLC. These are all of the new characters that will be in the WWE 2K17 Hall of Fame Showcase:

  • The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin, Buddy Roberts and Michael PS Hayes)
  • The Von Erichs (Kerry and Kevin Von Erich)
  • Ivory
  • Jacquelin
  • Papa Shango
  • The Godfather
  • Albert

New characters isn’t the only new content the DLC pack will have. We will also see some new attires for the following superstars:

  • Cactus Jack (WCW Saturday Night 1992)
  • Diamond Dallas Page (WCW Saturday Night 1992)
  • Sting (Gold and Black Tights)
  • Sting (N.W.O. Wolfpac gear)
  • Ric Flair (Clash of Champions 1988)
  • Bret Hart (WCW Halloween Havoc 1998)
  • Big Boss Man (Armageddon 1999)
  • Big Show (Armageddon 1999)

Incoherent Story?

The problem with last year’s Hall of Fame Showcase was the lack of a narrative and the odd matches chosen. While they often showcase that year’s Hall of Fame inductee, they tended to pick matches where they lost. The Bushwackers for example, are in the Hall of Fame, but their match in the game had them lose to The Natural Disasters.

Still, fans that want a proper Showcase Mode might not get what they want with this. That doesn’t mean it will be bad, since the game itself is pretty fun, but it will pale in comparison to the stories in 2K15 and 2K16.

WWE 2K17 is available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Fans can get the WWE 2K17 Hall of Fame Showcase separately or through the US$29.99 season pass. The only DLC not in the pass are the Goldberg and NXT packs.
