Winds Of Winter Release Date: Detailed History Of Game Of Thrones Revealed By George R.R. Martin As Cause Of Delay

By on

Fans have been waiting for the release of the Winds of Winter for quite some time now. Just when everyone thought it will hit the stores this year, it seems the book will have its launch in 2017. Why? It is because of all the history author George R.R. Martin is putting into the publication.

Months ago, Martin talked with News Everyday. He mentioned that the book might not be available this year. Instead, it will come out some time in 2017. But, fans should not be worried because ?some exciting details? on its plotline are going to be added.

In another interview, the author finally revealed what the additions are. He said, ?I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there?s a lot of material there and I?m writing more.?

Although that is indeed appealing to hear, Martin immediately clarified that this possible prequel is still uncertain. He mentioned that at the moment, he still have to finish the show and two books to write. So, with a lot of projects at hand, all the history he mentioned are just speculations.

As of this writing, the release date of Winds of Winter is still unknown. But, if all these plans will be carried out by Martin, the upcoming book will surely be more interesting. Let us wait for further announcements from the author of the book.

Game of Thrones Season 7

Meanwhile, in the seventh season of the TV adaptation of Martin?s work, a major character is set to make a comeback. It is no other than Gendry (Joe Dempsie), who was last seen in the third season of the series.

For a quick recap, he was turned over to Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) by the Brotherhood in Season 3. When Melisandre tried to send Gendry to Dragonstone to be a ?royal blood? sacrifice for Stannis, Davos (Liam Cunningham) saved him. He was sent on a boat heading to somewhere and that was the last time viewers saw Gendry.

Now, the question is, what sparked these rumors about his return? According to reports, some fans saw Dempsie at an airport in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the region where GoT is filming. It was also revealed that the actor has no other work commitments, so him being around could hint at his return to the series.

However, him visiting a friend is still a possibility so take this report with a grain of salt. Let us wait for further announcements from the production team about the issue.

How about you? When do you think Winds of Winter will hit the book stalls? And for the show, do you think Gendry will finally return in GoT Season 7? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
