Microsoft has finally started the official roll out of Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update. The release has a build number of 14393.67. It is the same build that was made available to Insiders on the Fast Ring a few weeks ago.
On Aug. 2, the Cupertino company had released the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for PCs and it was expected to roll out the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update for smartphones running on Windows 10 Mobile at the same time.
However, it did not happen so. Rumors also suggested that the update would be hitting smartphones on Aug. 9, but the company did not release it.
Finally, the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update is available with a slight delay. The smartphones that are currently running on Windows 10 Mobile will be the first ones to receive the major upgrade. Also, the update will be first made available to unlocked devices.
Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update Compatible Devices
The list of compatible devices include Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 550, Lumia 635 (1 GB), Lumia 636 (1 GB), Lumia 638 (1 GB), Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 650, Lumia 730, Lumia 735, Lumia 930, Lumia 1520, Lumia Icon, Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL,BLU Win HD w510, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, and MCJ Madosma Q501. It will be also available for other smartphones that come preinstalled with Windows 10 Mobile like ?the HP Elite X3.
However, Microsoft has stated that the arrival of the update may vary by manufacturer, model, region and service provider. Hence, all the smartphones running on Windows 10 Mobile will not be receiving the new software today.
In order to get Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update, users need to check for the latest software update by navigating to Settings > Update & Security > Phone update. If the update is available, the phone will download and install the new build 10.0.14393.67. The size of the update is said to be 943 MB.
The new update brings improved Settings, improvements to the notification center, camera enhancements, Windows Ink pen recognition software, numerous improvements to Cortana, more efficient Microsoft Edge browser, fortified security features and an inbuilt UWP Skype app.
