Ed Boon, co-creator of the iconic brutal fighter Mortal Kombat states that the chances of getting the classic games Mortal Kombat 1 up to 3 to Wii U?s Virtual Console is lower than slim. Wii U owners are a bit out of luck as the guy said that it is certainly not going to happen.
A fan on Twitter asked Boon if there are any chances of re-releases of the first three games of Mortal Kombat and he simply said ?0.0%?. It is not like the classic trilogy can?t get any hope of having a modern day console port. In fact, it already had one on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC under the Mortal Kombat Arcade Collection.
These games from the Mortal Kombat series all appeared on a number of Nintendo platforms. They got released on SNES first, then got ports for Nintendo 64 and Wii as well. Some games from the series also got released for SEGA Genesis and Megadrive. (Mortal Kombat 2 and 3). It didn?t have any release for the Wii U, but Boon thinks that the Wii U actually has an interesting Gamepad which can open up to new possibilities.
“I would like to think we could think of something really innovative and cool. We are all very excited. Whenever there is new hardware, you start to think on a bigger scale,”
In an interview with GameTrailers, Boon also said ?When you see that screen and controller in there, to me, things start connecting in terms of what we can do with our game, enhancing the experience.”
With all these said, it?s pretty hard to imagine why these games aren?t on the eShop yet, more particularly in this case, Wii U?s Virtual Console. This possibly means two things. The bad thing is, Boon already popped away the last chance it has, of being released on the Wii U. The good thing is, they might have something else in mind which might be a new game that actually utilizes the GamePad?s capabilities.
