White PlayStation 4 to come with Destiny video game bundle

A special edition white PlayStation 4 has been announced by Sony to be available and bundled with the new Destiny video game. The news about this console, to be launched on September 9, 2014, was introduced during the electronics company?s press conference at the E3 2014 event. They further disclosed that a PS4-exclusive beta version of Destiny will arrive first on July 17.

According to Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., the upcoming ?glacier white? PlayStation 4 console will be paired with a wireless DualShock 4 controller with the same color. Moreover, the company will also have an ?Urban Camouflage? style DualShock controller for sale. The price tags for these new controllers will remain at their current range so buyers will have more choices (e.g. white, black, camouflage). For those in the United States, they can get the white PlayStation 4 with Destiny bundle for $ 449.99. As of now, no information is available for a European release.

Destiny is Bungie?s first major launch since their independence from Microsoft. This game company has been known to launch the popular Halo franchise. Destiny is expected to be a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) with first-person shooter gameplay functionalities. The game is arguably one of this year?s highly anticipated titles.

Upon its full release together with the white PlayStation 4, Destiny will offer various classes for gamers to choose from. They may include Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters with a significant emphasis on co-op multiplayer. As mentioned, Bungie will release a beta version for the game ahead of the September release to test its software features.

Given this move of offering a white PlayStation 4 and Destiny bundle, Sony is apparently pushing the said game to their current generation console. But it?s not the same with Microsoft?s strategy since Destiny is also slated to be released to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PS3. In contrast, Microsoft has put a lot of effort to market Titanfall for their own line of Xbox gaming consoles.

Though it?s interesting that Sony has earned an upper hand against Microsoft by offering a white version of their consoles, it may not be what most gamers are asking for. One of the most sought after features that Xbox and PlayStation owners wish to have is a large storage space. While it is possible to connect an external drive to expand its memory, a game console with its own internal storage of 1 or maybe 2 TB may appeal more to gamers.
