Drake has just released his joint mixtape with Future, ?What a Time to Be Alive,? on the rapper?s OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1 on Sunday, which also followed the exclusive release on iTunes and Apple Music, shared by Rolling Stone. The 11-track album may be on its way to hip-hop royalty.
?It?s a little soundtrack for people that need it right now,? Drake said according to the Guardian. Majority of the songs on the mixtape that were produced was by ?Metro Boomin.? Producers ?Southside,? ?Boi-1da,? and ?Noah ?40? Shebib? was also included in some of the tracks, according to the Guardian.
The rapper also shared his experience in recording with Future, ?I went to Atlanta for six days a couple weeks ago with the hopes of doing some songs with Future, and when you get around Future, it?s like a vortex, that guy can outwork anybody right now,? Drake shared. ?It?s tough to see someone do four, five songs in one night and not try to match it.?
The original title of the album came from a Simpson meme according to the Guardian, ?in which the character Jasper spots a Moonpie cookie in the Kwik-E-Mart and exclaims: ?What a time to be alive.?? This is the second release of Drake this year following the previous ?If You?re Reading This It?s Too Late,? which was also released on iTunes and Apple Music before it?s official release, shared by the Guardian.
