By on

This fall, HBO is going to release the most anticipated television adaptation of Michael Crichton?s iconic 1973 sci-fi film, Westworld. Recently, the network released its very first teaser trailer and it is different from its movie counterpart, as it presents itself as something fresh.

The upcoming TV series, as mentioned, is based on the 1973 sci-fi movie and it will follow a group of people in a futuristic theme park called, the title itself, Westworld. According to Polygon, the show is described as ?a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.?

In the first trailer, the fans had a chance to meet some of the characters in the upcoming series. It includes a star-studded cast like Anthony Hopkins, who will be the creator of the Westworld in the series; James Marsden, a new gunslinging cowboy; and Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Abernathy, a resident of Westworld who learns that her entire life is nothing more than a well constructed lie.

Aside from the three great actors, the upcoming TV series is also going to showcase the talents of Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Tessa Thompson. Although the trailer has pumped up the fans, HBO has not released a specific premiere date for the show at this time.

Meanwhile, as posted by The Guardian, HBO?s Westworld is going to be perfect for the fans who wanted to see a ?stultifyingly dark reimagining of the story, where important questions are asked about humanity and consciousness.? Also, every character is expected to speak an identically-growled whisper, and nudity is going to be exclusively confined to dead bodies. Furthermore, in this series, expect nobody to smile, because according to the outlet, only a fool would assume that any character would want to enjoy in a ?rootin?-tootin? wild west theme park.?

Clearly, the upcoming Westworld TV series on HBO is going to be interesting especially for those who have seen the 1973 sci-fi film. How about you? What other things do you expect in the series? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
