Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo will get some much-needed star power by guesting Hallyu celebrity Lee Jong Suk. His appearance makes it seem like the new series is confident about being up against Lee Min Ho?s Legend of the Blue Sea.

The two Korean dramas are both scheduled to premiere tonight. They will air on the exact same Wednesday and Thursday primetime slot in MBC and SBS, respectively.

Actress Lee Sung Kyung last appeared as a supporting cast member in Doctors earlier this year. Those who have been following her work are excited for her starring role in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.

The series is inspired by the story of real-life female weightlifter Jang Mi Ra. The plot will revolve around how Sung Kyung?s character will fall in love for the first time.

She will be joined by Ji Il Joo, who will portray a student and swimmer. The actor was part of the cast of Age of Youth, which ended just two months ago.

However, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is expected to face stiff competition from Legend of the Blue Sea. The fantasy ? love story will be Min Ho?s highly anticipated return to TV after doing The Heirs in 2013.

Furthermore, the Asian superstar will have movie star Jun Ji Hyun as his leading lady. The actress gained worldwide recognition for her 2001 hit movie My Sassy Girl.

The SBS series has been heavily promoted on social media and noticed by international media. Several teasers of scenes that were shot in Barcelona, Spain have been circulating online for weeks.
