The Weeknd recently teased fans about a new album to watch out for. It is titled Starboy and it could most likely feature the 26-year-old Canadian singer?s collaboration with Daft Punk, according to reports.
Whether Daft Punk will be in Starboy or not has not been officially confirmed yet. Republic Records executive VP and head of urban A&R Wendy Goldstein previously revealed that The Weeknd was working with Daft Punk back in July. Goldstein is a self-confessed Daft Punk fan.
When Goldstein was asked about the artists she prefers to work with, she told about a session that they will be doing with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. Many are quick to assume that this new album that The Weeknd is about to release was the material that they?ve been working for.
The Weeknd New Album Starboy
Abel Tesfaye, who is more popularly known as The Weeknd, has been dropping clues about his upcoming album. In May, he shared that he was back in the studio and working with the same team behind House of Balloons. He said magic was creatively happening and he didn?t want to lose it.
The Weeknd took to Twitter on Wednesday to officially announce his new album. An artwork for the much awaited project is now a hot topic on social media.
The cover art, which looks like a comic-book-like image, was composed by the popular music photographer Nabil Elderkin. Elderkin has also previously worked with Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean and FKA Twigs, among others.
Starboy is The Weeknd?s follow-up project after Beauty Behind the Madness. The latter, which was released in 2015, was a huge success. It has sold more than 3 million copies to date. It has also produced two No. 1 singles on the Billboard 100 chart.
Release date for Starboy is yet to be announced. Tune in on TheBitbag for more updates on The Weeknd?s newest album.
