The Wayward Pines Season 2 finale airs tonight and death and destruction are the only things we know for certain in the 10th episode titled, ?Bedtime Story.?
It appears that the end will really be the end. The second season has been building towards the Abbies? invasion in the town and we don?t know if anyone could ever survive the Abbies? horrific attack. Not only that, starvation is also a big problem for the town.
The town leader, Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens), was accidentally shot and killed in the penultimate episode by Kerry Campbell (Kacey Rohl), who was revealed to be his mother in a flashback. Will she find out the truth in the finale?
With Higgins gone, Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) is left in charge in keeping the town safe and all its people alive. Before Higgins? death, he had been trying to save the town and keeping people alive by evading the Abbies. He had a plan to put the people to sleep, the only problem was that not everyone can be saved as only a limited number of pods could be used. So Higgins was forced to make the difficult decision on who to save and who to sacrifice.
But now, it?s up to Theo to decide on what to do to save the town, though we don?t know for sure if he will continue with Higgin?s plan. The official synopsis for the finale states that Theo will be forced to make a decision that could seal humanity?s fate. Will his decision possibly lead to the destruction of humanity?
Meanwhile, Christian Times reports that Abbie leader, Margaret, might spare children and pregnant women in the attack as she has shown some kind of sympathy for them. She was also shown recovering from injuries in the last episode.
The series is partly based on a novel by Blake Crouch of the same name. The cast also includes Matt Dillon, Toby Jones, Terrence Howard, Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo and Djimon Hounsou.
The finale welcomes guest stars Christopher Meyer, Michael Garza, Emma Tremblay, Siobhan Fallon Hogan and Amitai Marmosterin.
Catch the Wayward Pines Season 2 finale this Wednesday night, July 27, 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
