2017 is a very much anticipated year for anime lovers and otakus. One live action adaptation that?s bringing in the hype is none other than the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. It is set to premiere next year to give us an amazing fantasy-action entertainment.
Warner Bros is producing the live action adaptation of this popular manga/anime series. Through their official website, Warner Bros released a teaser trailer for the movie. In the trailer you can see Japanese actor, 23-year-old Ryosuke Yamada, playing the character Edward Elric. Appearing together with him is Al, his younger brother, made out of CGI.
The movie?s story is reported to be modified a bit, such as making Ed 20 years old in the movie instead of originally being 15 years old. The Fullmetal Alchemist movie aims to tell the entire story of Fullmetal Alchemist. The director, Fumihiko Sori, says, ?I want to create a style that follows the original manga as much as possible. The cast is entirely Japanese, but the cultural background is Europe. However, it?s a style that doesn?t represent a specific race or country.?
As we all know, the characters of Fullmetal Alchemist are originally non-Japanese so movie director, Sori, promises to stay faithful to the original story. ?There will never be a scene in which a character says something that would identify him/her as Japanese.? This is perhaps due to Sori?s deep affection for the story that depicts the ?truth of living?. He also adds, ?it is my dearest wish to turn this wonderful story into a film, and it is not an exaggeration to say that I am living for this reason.?
The Fullmetal Alchemist movie director also aims to create a wonderful film that uses techniques that can challenge Hollywood. He notes that nowadays Japanese filmmaking techniques have progressed greatly.
All these things Sori promises seems to be evident in the recently released trailer. Marvel at this movie?s Fullmetal Alchemist world come-to-life. See trailer now.
