Watch Dogs 2: Will It Have Microtransactions?

By on

Watch Dogs 2 is set for release this November, and fans might not know what to think about it. The first game was far from bad, but it wasn’t anything special either, especially after all the hype it received. It seems like the sequel might learn from the first game’s mistakes, but Ubisoft might not learn from theirs since they’ve been adding microtransactions to their titles lately. Will this game have microtransactions as well?

Some fans on Reddit have started debating on it. While some fans feel like there won’t be microtransactions since the first game didn’t have them, others feel like the stronger addition of multiplayer might lead to Ubisoft adding in-game purchases to the open-world title. Either way, it’s an interesting debate.

Due to the various customization features that will be included in the Watch Dogs 2 multiplayer, some fans feel like the game will go the way of Grand Theft Auto 5 and have microtransactions for the online mode. This might not be too bad for some, since the game also has single-player, but fans should keep in mind that Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate had in-game purchases, so this game might have them as well.

To be fair, Syndicate Ubisoft stated that the purchases were optional and weren’t needed to complete the game. They were only there for inexperienced players who want to get some of the game’s best items early. While this ticked some fans off, most of them still found the game fun and a huge improvement over the other Assassin’s Creed games. Let’s hope the second Watch Dogs game is just as good.

While in-game purchases haven’t been confirmed, fans can expect a season pass and some DLC. This has become a thing with games lately, especially with Ubisoft, so fans shouldn’t be too surprised to see the developers announce new content for the game.

Watch Dogs 2 comes out on November 15. The sequel to the original open-world hacking title will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC when it gets released later this fall. ?
