The Walking Dead Season 7 returns this October and fans just could not wait to see who Negan killed in those final moments of the Season 6 Finale. AMC even filmed 11 death scenes, one for each character, just so no spoiler-thirsty fan could find out on set in Atlanta. But fans SHOULD now understand the reason for that cliffhanger. The upcoming season is not about who Negan bludgeoned to death via Lucille, it?s all about coming to terms with the fact that this worse-than-Governor villain now exists and is very much a part of the world Rick and the survivors thought was somehow under their control.
Of course, we deeply care about whoever ?took it like a champ? in the Season 6 Finale, and we will have time to bawl over him/her after/during the premiere so let?s just lean more towards the possibilities that come with this ?brand new? and ?bigger world.?
Norman Reedus talked to Skybound about what to expect in Season 7 and he lets us in on more details about the next chapter. ?It?s a brand new world right now, man,? he begins. ?We have a big bad guy and that opens up our world quite a bit and changes everything. I mean, you see a shift of power completely on our show. And you see a lot of people who?ve gone through a whole lot, having to bite their tongue for a minute and deal with this new world and this new villain. If you know the comic books, it opens up even larger than that.?
Comic book fans have an idea of what comes next for Rick and the survivors after Negan?s introduction. We already met the Saviors and the upcoming season will explore more on their way of life and all about Negan as their leader. New communities will be introduced as well and Rick and the others will find out how other communities managed to survive and thrive in the apocalypse.
Hilltop was already introduced last season, a community led by Gregory Monroe, whom Rick?s group met through Jesus. The Kingdom will be introduced in the upcoming installment for sure as Carol and Morgan already met with two of its people who saved them from one of the Saviors. This ?kingdom? is led by a man named Ezekiel who rules as a king to his people and who has a tiger named Shiva for a pet. It will be exciting to see how the show will handle a tiger in the apocalypse and how ?medieval? Ezekiel?s kingdom would be–knights astride horses with armors and spears and all that. They might even have a moat there or something. Crazy, crazy stuff.
So we have a new big bad villain, a kingdom, a tiger, a king? what else?
It?s really going to be a larger world and Rick and the others will find out soon enough that that Season 6 Finale death, whoever it may be, was just the beginning.
