The mid-season ender “Hearts Still Beating” gave its viewers an idea on what will possibly happen to the second half of the zombie TV series. As expected, the episode turned down two of its supporting cast. However, this one deserves a celebration after Alexandrians come up with their much-awaited verdict: fight Negan.

Overall, how the episode played reminds us of its original storytelling. So much for a slow-paced narrow-sighted episode, the directors probably decided to stop experimenting and just keep the action going. Join us here today for our The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 8 recap, review and spoilers.

The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 8 Recap: What Just Happened With Spencer and Olivia?

Firstly, with a newly-shaved face, Negan kills Spencer after the latter’s attempt to woo him. Negan slashes Spencer’s guts and laughs at the scene.

When Rosita tries to assassinate Negan from afar, Lucille takes the bullet and Negan commands one of the Saviors to pick and kill someone from Rick’s group. Immediately, the Savior shoots towards Olivia’s face.

It’s a given that somebody must go for this episode but those names should not come from the main cast. Hence, Spencer and Olivia got the sacrificial death award. Apparently, those two minor characters serve as an inspiration for Rick to stand up, once again, and remove the ‘loser of the year’ look off of his face.

The Group and Rick’s Heart and Resolve

After Negan gives updates in the neighborhood, Rick then asks Negan to get away. Negan approves as long as he brings with him the bullet-smith who is Eugene.

Rick?s group ends up on Hilltop with Michonne, Carl, Rosita and Tara. The group meets with Maggie, Sasha, Enid and Daryl. The looks on their face are saying one thing: Game On! Thus, the title ‘Hearts Still Beating’ proves that Rick has still got the eye for injustice.

It will be two months before we get to see the second half of TWD. But the directors surely put a mystery behind the man seen on the post-credits. The man follows Rick and Aaron from their scavenging missions back to Alexandria. Is it another friend or another foe?
