The Voice 2016 Blind Auditions have given us diverse amazing talents so far. As usual, coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys fought tooth and nail to get the cream of the crop.
Based on what has been going down during the blind auditions, looks like Team Alicia Keys will come out in the lead. That is based on who she’s picked up so far. Following closely will be Team Adam Levine. Third and fourth will be Team Miley Cyrus and of course, trailing behind will be Team Blake Shelton. Sorry, Blake.
Meantime, let?s take a look at what happened recently:
First off, Bindi Liebowitz. She said her performance was dedicated to her mom. She revealed her mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She did a soulful rendition of Bust Your Windows and Levine was the first to show love.
He turned around first, followed by Shelton. Shelton tried to win her over by saying he leads the winning team. Something that he plays up one season after another. Some contestants buy it, most don’t. Liebowitz finally went with Levine because of his expertise in blending genres, which is something she’d love to do as an artist.
Next came Zach Hicks, an openly gay country-soul singer. He did At This Moment. Levine commented he had a “beautifully big, round voice.” Unfortunately, none of the chairs turned. Shelton and Cyrus wished he’d done something a bit more country during his audition.
From Kiddie Shows to The Voice!
Shy Elia Esparza came next. Her mom said she moved to New York after graduating from high school to pursue her singing career. Unfortunately, she just ended up doing kids entertainment at birthday parties. She decided to try something different and sang in Spanish. She did Como La Flor by Selena.
Levine was quick to do the first turn, then Shelton and Cyrus joined at the end. Levine applauded her for “being so different.” He said he wanted to do a pop music both in Spanish and English. Esparza probably should have gone with Cyrus but then again, Levine’s magic worked like a charm.
Lane Mack tries to juggle his time between his love for music and his family?s business. He auditioned with the song Every Day I Have The Blues. Cyrus liked his momentum so she turned around. No one else did. By default he made it as the first male contestant on her team. “I’m excited to work with you,” says Cyrus.
Samson by Regina Spektor was sang by business student Karlee Metzger. She always makes music her top priority and wants to do this professionally. Initially her rendition sounded just like the original, but halfway through, she gave it her own sound. Shelton and Cyrus turned around. She’s really shy but has the potential to become a big star. Cyrus said so herself.
Josh Halverson closed the night by singing Forever Young. Shelton, Keys and Cyrus turned around simultaneously. Levine regretted his decision in the end for not turning. In the end she joined Team Keys. She didn’t expect it but she was thrilled after he picked her.
