It seems like rise of virtual reality and the popularity of VR gadgets is unstoppable as it has been reported that Google is already making serious moves in order to get into all of the VR action. According to Tech Crunch, the technology giant, which specializes in internet-related products and services, is looking for more personnel for their VR department which could mean that another VR product may be released by Google in the near future.
The recent job posting by Google, which was first reported by RoadtoVR, is for a ?Hardware Engineering Technical Lead Manager, VR.? According to the job posting, the person they are looking to hire will ?drive the design and execution of our ever increasing product portfolio.? ?The job posting further says that the employee will ?be responsible for the building multiple CE (Consumer Electronic) devices and will put together the right team that will scale with our product offering.?
Google is no stranger to virtual reality as the tech company has long been interested in the field. Currently, the company?s virtual reality efforts revolved around its Google Cardboard initiative, which gives consumers a chance to experience rudimentary virtual reality using a combination of low-cost headsets and smartphones.
If the latest job posting made by the company is any indication, Google may be looking to develop market-friendly consumer VR devices to compete with Samsung?s Gear VR technology. The Gear VR is Samsung?s virtual reality headset which can be used with the company?s Galaxy smartphones, particularly the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ devices.
While the job posting doesn?t confirm that Google will be releasing its own VR headset, it is a huge indication that the company is very serious in its virtual reality efforts and that the development of a Google VR device is no longer a question of ?if? but ?when.?
