The second half of the Vikings Season 4 premieres this July and fans will see what has become of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) after his defeat against his brother Rollo (Clive Standen) and the Vikings? failure in conquering Paris.
Many believe that this will be the last season for Fimmel?s character if the series will accurately follow the events in history as the great Norse king will eventually meet his demise. But as Ecumenical News reports, Ragnar?s story is far from over because in the second half of the fourth season, he will return to complete his quest and purpose.
But what is this ?quest? and what is his true purpose? Producer Michael Hirst told Entertainment Weekly that Ragnar?s return will be a memorable one. ?One of the great shots is that visual effect when Ragnar comes back into Kattegat, and Kattegat has changed,? Hirst said. ?It?s a huge town. He?s a stranger in this place, now. The sons have seen all this change, lived through that.?
For those who want to know if Ragnar will survive this season, there is a possibility. Master Herald reports that Fimmel completed filming for all 10 episodes of the back half so this may mean that his character will actually survive and could stay on for Season 5. Fimmel also confirmed that they have finished filming all 50 episodes of the series since Season 1 and added that his character has undergone so much change over the course of the series.
However, it is also quite possible that the finale will be reserved for Ragnar?s inevitable demise. Based on history, the Norse king met his end when he was thrown into a pit of snakes by King Aelle of Northumbria. Will the series stay true to history? Do you think Ragnar will finally meet his demise at the end of this season?
Well, this is a story about the Norse leader?s rise and fall and we might possibly see the latter unfold at the end of Season 4.
