With a few months left before Vikings Season 4 takes its mid-season premiere, fans are already expecting a lot from the TV series. One of those is the much-anticipated faceoff between Lagertha and Aslaug, as the former tries to inflict her vengeance on the latter.
Katheryn Winnick, the actress playing Lagertha, recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly during the San Diego Comic Con 2016, which ran from July 21 to 24, and she teased the fans on the upcoming battle between the two ?power women.? Winnick mentioned that it will be an all-out ?cat fight.?
?It?s one of my favorite favorite scenes. It?s a really interesting scene because you don?t expect what happens,? said the actress. Although it is as appealing as it sounds, it is still not yet clear whether who between Lagertha and Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) will survive after the battle.
Luckily, there is a possible hint that could be drawn from the interview of Winnick. She told EW that she has already started filming for the next season of the TV series and show?s creator Michael Hirst has also talked about the fate of the character.
?She?s also gone on this amazing female journey in which she?s gone from farmer?s wife [who?s] happily married with kids, to being betrayed, to being in an abusive relationship, to having power, to having power taken away from her by men, to having to fight her way back, to having to lose her baby again,? Hirst told TV Guide last April. ?She is the soul of the show and I need her,? he added.
With that statement, it is pretty clear that Lagertha is not going to die in Vikings Season 4. So, if she is not, then Aslaug might be the one to die. Now, the reason why the producers might kill her is because Sutherland is going to appear on Spike?s upcoming series The Mist, whose production begins this summer for a 2017 debut.
Meanwhile, Hirst also shared some details about the current season and mentioned that Ivar is going to be the most famous one. ?We know the only thing the historical Ragnar was really afraid of is that his sons would become more famous than he was ? Ivar the Boneless is probably the most famous of all vikings. He?s a cripple, and yet he becomes this dominant, extraordinary alpha-male,? said the creator.
