By on

The second half of Vikings Season 4 will air sometime this year but we can already feel the intensity and excitement as set photos hint at the violence of Ivar the Boneless (Alex H?gh Andersen). Ivar debuted in the mid-season finale of Season 4 and is said to be the most fearsome Viking.

Danish actor Andersen posted some photos and videos on set on his Instagram account. One photo featured a puddle of blood on the floor with the caption, ?Set life on @historyvikings tends to be a bloody mess.? And a bloody mess it was indeed!

The actor also posted a short video of stunt rehearsals for what appears to be a melee inside castle grounds.

Ivar the Boneless is one of the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok. International Business Times notes that although he had a very brief role in the mid-season finale, it appears that when the series returns, we will see how fearsome and dangerous he really is. It is widely speculated that he will have a big role in the series, as an older Ragnar tells him in the trailer, ?I promise you, my son, that one day the whole world will know and fear Ivar the Boneless.? According to history, Ivar was a well-known Viking leader and was the commander of the Great Heathen Army.

Meanwhile, Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha, shared a behind-the-scenes photo as well showing the actress in her warrior attire looking fierce as flames intensify the pose. She captioned the photo with, ?Back at work.. The art of trying to look like badass warrior.. but not get burnt by this sucker.?

Jasper P??kk?nen, who plays Halfdan the Black, posted a selfie with other cast members, their faces all bloody and soiled from filming of what appears to be a battle scene. MovieNewsGuide notes that the photo possibly hints at an impending war between Halfdan the Black and King Harald Finehai when the series returns.
