Verizon seems to be not enjoying the feature, disables PayPal Payment support on Galaxy S5

By on

Verizon disabled PayPal payment support on Samsung Galaxy S5 just before the world release of the smartphone and after PayPal announced the availability of its fingerprint-based authentication system in 25 countries, reports said.

Leaksters said, it was discovered a couple of days ago that the Verizon?s version of the Galaxy S5 does not have the ability to use the fingerprint scanner to authorize PayPal payment.

After logging in, users of Verizon?s version of Samsung S5 will not have access to mobile and online payments at millions of retailers that support PayPal.

It could be remembered that it was during the MWC 2014 when it was announced that the system will allow PayPal users to log in the app and authorize payments by simply swiping over the Galaxy S5?s home button.

Samsung Galaxy S5 would be the first phone to integrate the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) authentication standard.

?Customers can use their finger to pay with PayPal from their new Samsung Galaxy S5 because the FIDO Ready software on the device securely communicates between the fingerprint sensor on their device and PayPal?s service in the cloud. The only information the device shares with PayPal is a unique encrypted key that allows PayPal to verify the identity of the customer without having to store any biometric information on PayPal?s servers,? said John Lunn, PayPal Developer Network.

This time, it is not sure why Verizon has decided to remove the said feature.
