A calendar grand slam could be on the verge of plunging as Serena Williams faces her sister Venus, admittedly the only player she fears at the US Open. One of the most famous siblings in tennis will go head-to-head for the 27th time in the quarter-finals of the US Open 2015 at Flushing Meadows, New York, according to the Independent.
After beating fellow American Madison Keys, Serena Williams will face off against her sister Venus Williams, who beat her previous opponent Estonian Anett Kontaveit.? ?For me, I?m playing the best player in the tournament, and that?s never easy,? Serena said according to the Independent. ?She?s beaten me so many times. I?ve taken a lot of losses off of her ? more than anybody. She?s a player that knows how to win, knows how to beat me, and knows my weaknesses better than anyone,? she added.
According to the Independent, it will be ?the first all-Williams clash in New York since they met at the same stage in 2008.? ?I think it?s more fun than it used to be,? Serena said, shared by the Independent. ?We really relish the opportunity. We?re both happy to still be involved in getting so far. And it?s still super intense. She?s doing well and she wants to win this. So do I. It?s not easy.?
Serena?s sister, on the other hand, has taken seven major singles titles in the course of her career, shared by the Independent. ?I don?t think anyone want to be a spoiler, I think people love to see history being made.? It seems that there are no better opponents than siblings. ?No one is out to be a spoiler, but at the same time, you?re focused on winning your match even though the circumstances are really much different than you (would want),? Venus said according to the Independent.
Serena Williams then added how grateful she was about playing her sister for the championship. ?I think it?s been an amazing rivalry. I think it?s meant a lot. We?ve done a lot for the sport. Hopefully it can continue as long as we play,? she said. Be sure to watch the sibling match between Serena and Venus Williams as they face off at the US Open 2015 at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday night.
