The ultimate and final game of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 78 men?s basketball championship, it?s all in or nothing for the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers as they battle it out and determine the champions in Game 3 this Wednesday, December 2 at the Philippines? Mall of Asia Arena.
After previously experiencing both teams? respective losses the last time they were in the finals, this year?s UAAP finalists are itching to get the crown more than ever. There?s still no telling on who will take the UAAP title, so expect an all-out and heated battle between the teams.
Growling Tigers look to Kevin Ferrer for the big win
With the sudden explosion of Kevin Ferrer in Game 2 of the finals, the Growling Tigers are looking for another hot-hand that will carry on in their final game. Their reliable guard Ed Daquoiag will also have a crucial role in stopping the Tamaraws run for the crown.
UST head coach Bong Dela Cruz might have a lot on his mind lately, but with his strength and leadership as a coach of the determined Growling Tigers, there will be no stopping them in finally getting that coveted trophy.
Tamaraws avoid another upset
Unfortunately, the hot hand of Growling Tigers? Kevin Ferrer on the third period of Game 2 was enough to postpone the championship dreams of the Tamaraws. The shooting drought of players Mike Tolomia, with 0-of-15 from the field, Russell Escoto and Monbert Arong with no assistance, might also be a factor in their surprising loss.
FEU Tamaraw head coach Nash Racela was adamant in looking to get back up from the disappointing loss they had on Game 2. ?We lost by six points, the game was close,? Racela said in an interview. ?We had a chance in the end game, despite that explosion by the ?co-MVP? (Ferrer).? And if all goes well for the players of FEU, they may finally hold the title of UAAP champions once again. ?If we correct a few of those things then maybe we will have a better chance on Wednesday.?
