Uncharted Movie: ?Chris Pratt Would Do It Justice,? Says Nolan North

Uncharted Movie

While most fans have been weary about video game films, the Uncharted movie is one that?s actually anticipated. Since each installment of the series feels like a summer blockbuster, similar to Indiana Jones or National Treasure, most gamers feel that this game franchise would be the easiest to translate into film.

Though famed actor Mark Wahlberg was supposedly cast in the role, Nolan North has other ideas. North has voiced Nathan Drake since the very first Uncharted game hit the PS3, and he feels like if any actor is going to capture the humor and humanity of the game?s protagonist, it?s going to be Chris Pratt.

North told The Daily Star that he was interested in the role, but the studio might have already cast Mark Wahlberg. If North were in charge of casting, he would have chosen Pratt, since his portrayal of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy was essentially a Nathan Drake-style character. Pratt turned the role down, which is disappointing since he would have nailed the character perfectly for the Uncharted movie.

Pratt has had a fairly interesting career, starting his fame with the hit show Parks and Recreations before making it big as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. He has also appeared in The Lego Movie and Jurassic World, both of which were box office hits, with the latter actually topping The Avengers in terms of revenue.

While there was no reason given for Pratt supposedly turning down the role, it might have been the stigma that surrounds most video game movies. They have never really been good, with only Resident Evil, Prince of Persia, and Warcraft making money, while other failed attempts like Street Fighter and Alone in the Dark were considered critical failures.

Currently, the Uncharted movie still has a tentative 2017 release, so it?s going to take a while before we see anything regarding the film. Until then, fans can always relive their experience with Nathan Drake in Uncharted 4, which is available now on the PS4.
