The release of Uncharted 4: A Thief?s End is just a few weeks away. Sony is now actively working on promotions before the game?s launch on May 10. Sony also released a trailer titled The Making of Uncharted 4: A Thief?s End, and it indicates that the Uncharted 4 storyline benefits from The Last of Us, which has received the BAFTA Games Award for best game.
In the video, director Neil Druckmann says that for him, The Last of Us was refreshing because ?you could get away from that spectacle and think more like [at] a very intimate character level.? He said that as a team they?ve never done something like that before which is why it was uncomfortable for them.
While speaking about the storyline of Uncharted 4 with respect to The Last Of Us, game director Bruce Straley said that they picked pieces from the game?s setting, and they tried to combine them with the pivotal points of the story. Therefore, whenever a big incident happens to Drake or his companion in the game, the developer added a touch of emotion with the inspirations from The Last of Us.
In an interview with The Sun, Druckmann also said that they have learned so much from the Last of Us. He added that it is not necessary that all set pieces be explosive and big; some of them can be small and intimate, which will provide a different and more interesting pacing in Uncharted 4 as compared with other games in the series.
It will be interesting to see how Naughty Dog implements the changes. Turning the Uncharted 4 into The Last Of Us might turn off some fans. Luckily, fans don?t need to wait for a long time to check out the game as developer Naughty Dog has confirmed its release on May 10 for PlayStation 4.
