Uncharted 3: Drake?s Deception is getting its latest patch named version 1.19. The main change that this patch includes is the leaderboard being wiped out prior to developer Naughty Dog?s participation in the upcoming Operation Supply Drop charity gaming marathon.
Patch 1.19 should be available this week and aside from the leaderboard wipe, there are also some other changes like changes to some Block Mesh maps in team Deathmatch and The Lab. The main reason for the leaderboard wipe was to have a fresh start. According to community strategist Eric Monacelli, the event is to ?give everyone a fresh start for our upcoming participation in Operation Supply Drop’s 8-Bit Salute event.? Monacelli went on to add that aside from this update, Naughty Dog plans to wind down the patch support for the aging Uncharted 3 game which was released in November of 2011.
For those who don?t know, Operation Supply Drop is a charitable organization that delivers video games to troops around the world. They will be holding a 24 hour gaming marathon this weekend called the third annual 8-Bit Salute. The caption states: ?MAKE FUN WHERE THERE IS NONE,? and the event is done to both raise funds and awareness so that the organization can continue their mission of delivering video games to the troops that are deployed to combat zones through their ?supply drops?. The event runs from 9 am ET on Saturday, May 17 until 9 am ET on Sunday, May 18.
During this event, Team Naughty Dog will be live streaming their involvement on their Twitch channel from May 17 3pm ET until 3 am ET on May 18. After that time, they will hand it over to community partners who will take over from 3am to 3pm ET. During the whole streaming session, the studio will be having giveaways for copies of its games as well as DLC which include the Jak and Daxter Collection and the Game of the Year Edition of Uncharted 3.
Registration for the 8-Bit Salute event is absolutely free but those who register with the $15 Elite option will be eligible for a variety of raffles and prizes which include a 2014 8-Bit Salute t-shirt when $200 in funds is raised. Two lucky premium gamers will win a grand prize of a next generation video game stuffed supply drop of their own (has a $3000+ value), just like what gets sent out to troops every month.
As of this writing, the total funds accumulated are at $101,673.
