It?s fight week and fans can?t wait for the Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor rematch. But other UFC news make this week a little more interesting. Jon Jones is saying that he will be back ?really soon,? Tim Kennedy pulled a gun on a USADA personnel, BJ Penn came out of retirement and has a confirmed date and opponent. All these with details below.
Jon ?Bones? Jones back so soon?
After testing positive for banned substances by USADA, Jones was pulled out from his fight against Daniel Cormier to unify the UFC Light Heavyweight title. He was also pulled off the UFC?s official rankings and is awaiting trial. Many thought that Jones would not make his return this year. But in a turn of events, he might. ?
Jones posted a video saying that he has some good news for his fans–that he will be back real soon. Is this a sign that they found evidence for tainted supplements? USADA and Jones could not really comment on it as it is a pending case. But from the sound of it, we may see Jones back in the Octagon later this year.
Tim Kennedy pulled his gun on a USADA personnel
Tim Kennedy revealed that while working as a commentator on the online broadcast of Onnit Fight Night, he mistook one of the new USADA guys as a member of the ISIS and drew his gun on him. This he said was right after he received death threats from the ISIS.
He was quoted in Army Times telling the story.
“Funny story. One of the new USADA guys? There?s this truck that?s taking all the same turns heading to my house, so I punch it, and I go up into my driveway,” Kennedy said. “I hop out of my car, gun drawn. This is right after ISIS gives threats that they?re trying to kill me. And this poor USADA guy sticks his hands out of his truck window. And he?s like, ‘I?m from USADA! Please don?t kill me! I?m just here to get your pee!’ So I gave him my pee. And lead! No, I didn?t shoot him.?
Kennedy is a former active-duty Army sniper and competes in the UFC?s middleweight division. He is rumored to return to the Octagon on UFC 205 against Rashad Evans in New York.
