By on

It has been months since Transformers 5 generated talks around the web, and slowly, fans are getting piece-by-piece of information about the upcoming installment of the franchise. Here are the latest updates of the movie.

It was confirmed earlier that Michael Bay will be returning to the director?s chair to helm his last movie of the Transformers franchise wherein Mark Wahlberg will still be playing the lead role of saving the world from another round of terror by the aliens.

According to Uproxx, the production will start filming earlier that what the fans thought. Originally, it was scheduled to start shooting in June, but recent listing from My Entertainment World stated that the Transformers 5 team plans to film in May. Although it has been revealed that Paramount is already starting efforts to rework and expand the movie, details as to where they are going to film are still unknown.

The movie?s plot will also undergo a major change. For the past four episodes of the Transformers franchise, it was like the Autobots were playing a secondary role to the humans. People of the Earth have taken the lead role ever since the series started, which is likely wrong because if the cartoon series is the basis, the robots should be the ones taking centerstage. But worry no more because according to Cross Map, for the upcoming Transformers 5, fans are in for a treat as the screenwriters plan to present the movie the way it was presented in the cartoon series.

?We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations, and establish a mythological timeline. It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches, and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe,? Akiva Goldsman, head screenwriter of Transformers 5, said in an interview with Deadline.

Akiva added, ?if one of the writers discovers an affinity for Beast Wars, they can drive forward on treatments that will have been fleshed out by the whole room.? By mentioning Beast Wars, Akiva?s statement will solidify rumors that Ultra Magnus, Overrise, and Red Alert are bound to join forces with the Autobots and Cyclonus, Scourge and Blitzwig will be with Galvatron.

There is no specific date yet as to when the Transformers 5 will hit the cinemas, but it is believed to premiere some time in 2017.
