Fast and Furious famed star Tyrese Gibson, who was one of the original star from the first three Transformers movies, is confirmed to be joining the cast of Transformers 5.
After last month’s announcement of Josh Duhamel rejoining the Transformers series, Gibson sent a weird/sad video to Director Michael Bay basically begging the filmmaker to bring him back for the fifth installment of the transforming robot film franchise. It looks like Bay finally agreed to Gibson?s request as he will be reprising his role as USAF Chief Master Sergeant Robert Epps for the fifth film, Transformers: The Last Knight.
Gibson confirmed to ET Online that he’ll be appearing in Transformers: The Last Knight next year saying, ?Let?s just say 2017, summertime, it?s going to be a lot of energy out there in the universe: Fast 8, Transformers 5, another album??
The actor even posted the news on his Instagram account along with a photo of him and Director Bay?s private Transformers jet. In a rather humorous post, Gibson said, ?Rumor has it???? Nah?. Robert Epps is back!!!!!! #T5 summer 2017 just got even more interesting?? @MichaelBay aka #MrImAlwaysAwesome.?
Duhamel will return as Epps? former commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox in Transformers 5. Gibson and Duhamel will be joined by Transformers: Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg who will once again headline the film as Cade Yeager, with a live-action cast of otherwise mostly newcomers to the series. Peter Cullen will also reprise his role as the voice of Optimus Prime from the previous films. Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Pileggi, Laura Haddock and Anthony Hopkins are the other actors who have roles in the film.
Though not much is known about the film?s plot, it was previously revealed that Moner will play Izabella, a street-smart tomboy orphan who was raised in foster care. Her only friend in life is an adorable Transformer named Squeeks, who Bay recently introduced via the social media. The bright blue bot who?ll make his (or her) debut in the upcoming film is seemingly based on a Vespa scooter and he?ll have a cod-Italian accent to complete his look.
As of now, only five other transformers have been confirmed for the fifth installment, three Autobots and two Decepticons. Among the Autobots we have – Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Crosshairs, while from the Decepticons, the movie will feature Megatron and Barricade, among others. The movie might also introduce another new character – the ?Creator,? whom many believe will be played/voiced by Hopkins.
Transformers: The Last Knight will hit cinemas on June 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, Gibson?s other venture, Fast & Furious 8, opens April 14, 2017, and also stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Chris ?Ludacris? Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju, Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.
