Tracy Morgan made a comeback to the world of comedy as he officially returned to ?Saturday Night Live? (SNL). After being seriously injured in a deadly car crash a year ago, comedian Tracy Morgan made an appearance as a host at SNL to bring joy and laughter once again.
Last June, Tracy Morgan appeared on the ?Today? show in his first interview after the horrible accident. He spoke to Matt Lauer about the injuries he sustained, the loss of his friend, comedy writer James McNair, who was killed in the car crash, and his eventual return to the world of comedy. ?I love comedy and I can?t wait to get back to her,? he said according to Chicago Tribune. ?But right now my goal is just to heal and get better. Because I?m not 100 percent yet. I?m not. And when I?m there, you?ll know. I?ll get back to making you laugh. I promise you.?
But now he?s energized and ready to take on another chapter in his life. ?I?m back. It feels so good to be here. You may have seen on the news I was in a terrible car accident a year ago. It was awful. But it also showed me how much love and support I have in this world,? Morgan said during the show of SNL.
The return to the show would mean his first extended television appearance since the accident, according to NPR. And even during the monologue, he made light of the incident saying that people were asking if the comedian?s full mental sharpness would return after the crash. ?People were wondering, ?Can he speak? Does he have 100-percent mental capacity?? But the truth is I never did. I may even be a few [IQ] points higher now.?
The video above also showed a sketch where Morgan was reunited with his 30 Rock co-stars Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, and Jack McBrayer. He also brought back sketches of two familiar ?Saturday Night Live? characters animal expert Brian Fellow and Astronaut Jones, posted by NPR.
