It might be too late for Valentine’s, but wives and girlfriends will surely have a wonderful time buying Samsung’s new products for their better halves.
Samsung has announced that they will be releasing three new smartwatch devices at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year: Gear 2, the successor to last year?s Galaxy Gear, Neo, the sleeker version of it, and Samsung Gear Fit, a fitness- and fashion-focused wristband device.
The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo both have companion features for the user?s smartphone.?These features include the ability to receive notifications for communication – incoming calls, texts and other forms. They also have a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display capable of 320?320 resolution, ?a 1.0GHz dual core processor and a 2.0 megapixel autofocus camera. Video recording is at 720p. They?also support microphone input. The Gear 2 can also be used independently as a music player. Users can?easily transfer music from their phone to the Gear 2.
For the athletic-related features, there are built-in health sensors in the smartwatches which include heart rate monitors, pedometers and sleep monitoring. An accelerometer and heart gyroscope are also now available in these devices. Despite all these heavy-packed features, the gadgets, according to Samsung, may last up to six days of usage under light use conditions and between two and three days under normal use. Samsung said that it is three times longer-lasting.?The Gear watches are now based on Tizen OS, instead of on Android so that should make things pretty efficient and interesting.
They also have a better ecosystem now, with much more apps to use in the watches. ?And the best part of it all: they are compatible with 16 different devices in the Galaxy lineup, instead of just the Galaxy Note 3.
The Gear Fit basically offers the same features, but it has a smaller display and a sleeker profile. It also provides notifications for SMS, calls, emails and apps. It weighs less, and has a three to four-day battery life under normal usage and five days under light usage conditions. The Gear Fit caters to women and men who like dressing up because it is more stylish, and provides swappable straps just like on the Gear 2.
The Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and the Gear Fit will be shipped on April 11 in nearly 150 countries.
