Despite numerous leaks confirming its existence prior to an official announcement, there is still plenty of excitement to be had with the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan. The title is being developed by Platinum Games, a company that did a stellar job on another licensed property in Transformers: Devastation, and the graphics do a good job paying tribute to the comic books the game is based on.
Now thanks to a new TMNT Mutants In Manhattan trailer revealed by IGN, fans know the game?s release date is officially set on May 24. The timing of the game?s release is smart, since it?s a few weeks away from the upcoming film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which comes out on June 3.
The trailer itself offers a look at some of the bad guys that will be causing trouble in Manhattan. Bebop and Rocksteady are given some of the spotlight, since the two will be in the upcoming film, but we also see characters from the cartoon and comics like Armaggon and Oroku Karai.
Of course, the biggest baddie of TMNT Mutants In Manhattan makes an appearance as well. Super Shredder looks intimidating and should make for a fun boss fight in the game. One can only hope that he says his infamous ?turtle soup? line, though some would argue that it has been overused.
All of the characters look fantastic, including the leads of the game Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello. The beat-em-up action looks fairly similar to Transformers: Devastation, which is a compliment. The four-player co-op should make for some fun gameplay sessions between friends.
Hopefully it won?t be as short as Transformers: Devastation, which most fans finished in five or six hours. Even so, the beat-em-action and multiplayer should extend its lifespan considerably.
TMNT Mutants In Manhattan will be available on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. The title will be published by Activision and Nickelodeon, since the latter is home of the current TMNT animated series.
