TMNT Mutants In Manhattan Release Date Revealed in New Trailer

By on

After numerous leaks, Activision and Platinum Games have unveiled the first official ??Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan? trailer. This is something fans have been waiting for, and it looks like the developers in Platinum Games didn?t disappoint, as the trailer showcases flashy graphics and beat-em-up gameplay.

This article from Kotaku even jokes about how the game has been ?leaked officially.? Prior to the trailer?s release, plenty of information regarding the game was leaked, including its rating, possible cover art and numerous screenshots that looked too real to be false. Judging from the trailer, it seems like those screenshots were accurate.

The game looks very entertaining. The cel-shaded graphics really match the character?s comic book origins, and the action looks incredibly slick. Considering how Platinum Games also worked on ?Transformers: Devastation,? it shouldn?t be a surprise to see the developers pay homage to the original series.

All four members of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) will be playable, so those who prefer Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo or Michelangelo won?t have to worry. The game will also have four-player online play, but hopefully it supports local multiplayer as well.

Fans of the TMNT will also be happy to know that the roster of villains is staggering. The trailer alone features notable foes like Shredder and the Foot Clan, Bebop, Rocksteady and the mutant shark Armaggon. It will be interesting to see if more villains will be included in the actual game.

Comic Book Resources has confirmed that IDW Comics writer Tom Waltz will be writing the plot of the game. Waltz currently writes comic books based on the ?Ghostbusters,? so seeing him play around with the TMNT lore should amuse fans of IDW.

Like ?Transformers: Devastation? before it, ?TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan? will be available on current-gen and last-gen consoles. Fans will be able to pick it up on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the Windows PC.

The game is currently slated for a summer 2016 timeframe, though no official release date has been given. It?s not yet known if the release will be tied in with the upcoming ?Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows? film.
