It seems like console gamers will have two very exciting weekends courtesy of EA and Respawn Entertainment. The duo will be releasing the Titanfall 2 public beta test starting this Friday, Aug. 19.
The first weekend of the beta test will center on two types of gaming modes. The bounty hunt and pilot versus pilot modes.
The bounty hunt is a ten-person game mode, five players on each team, where each team gain points by killing bounties as well as their opponents. On the other hand, pilot versus pilot lets gamers battle each other without their mechs. This mode of play is composed of eight players each team skirmishing each other.
The second stage of beta test, which will take place between Aug 26 to 28, will revolve around Titanfall 2?s Amped Hardpoint mode. According to EA, this version of Hardpoint mode is similar to the original game?s version. Only difference is, this time, players defending a neutral point can ?amp? it and gain extra points. This gameplay mode consists of twelve players – six on each team.
On top of the gameplay modes, players will also be able to make use of two different mech types, Scorch and Ion.
Unfortunately, PC gamers will not be able to take advantage of Titanfall 2’s?public beta test program due to various reasons. One of which is hardware variety and minimum spec optimization. Another reason that Respawn Entertainment made public is the fear of data mining. Data mining is digging through the game?s files and folders in order to gain access to some important information about the game itself.
In fact in the game?s blog, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella said:
?…because the single player story has some wonderful secrets that we really want to preserve for launch, we also have to worry about leaks.?Our wonderfully curious PC players have proven in the past that they will dig out anything they can, and there’s a risk that they could spoil some of our single player.?
Titanfall 2 will launch on Oct. 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
