By on

For the upcoming X-Files revival miniseries, we will get to see some of the short-lived characters that became a favorite for the fans of the popular sci-fi series. The Lone Gunmen from Season 9 will make a return on the fourth episode of the 6-episode miniseries, they were played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund and Bruce Harwood.

The fourth episode is titled as ?Babylon? and is described by X-Files creator Chris Carter as “It deals with a very timely and newsworthy subject. It deals with it in a way that you will not recognize as anything that’s come before it.? No other info was hinted for the other episodes.

The Lone Gunmen were killed off on Season 9, but due to its popularity, it was decided that they will return along with newcomers including Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and Robbie Amell (The Flash) though no information was revealed on what roles they will be portraying. There will be more characters to be introduced in the new miniseries, including Joel McHale who will be playing the role as the Internet News Anchor Tad O?Malley and Annet Mahendru as Sveta; who was abducted by aliens.

Another surprising plot for the miniseries is that Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will be breaking up, this would make the miniseries more interesting as we will see the two in a different take as in the previous series we see the building of their relationship starting as strangers, friends and then lovers. We?ll get to see more of the plot unfold once the miniseries begins.

The X-files first aired on Fox in 1993 and ended in 2002. The upcoming miniseries is not a reboot and it will continue the story from the original series. Last month, Fox premiered a teaser video for the miniseries during an episode of Wayward Pines and the said video is now available online.

The X-Files veterans will also be making a return, Mitch Pileggi (as Walter Skinner), Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), William B. Davis (The Smoking Man) and David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) will be making their return for the miniseries as well.

The X-Files miniseries event will begin with a two-night premiere and will be aired on January 26, 2016.
