While there is still a lot left unknown about Hideo Kojima’s upcoming video game, Death Stranding, there seems to be a lot of praise for it already. This is especially so in the case of The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, who is also a member of Death Stranding’s cast. Reedus recently commented on Death Stranding, and as it turns out, he sings nothing but praise for Kojima’s anticipated project.

As Reedus gushes, Kojima’s project is one that is “mind-blowing” and “ahead of its time.” The actor explains that Death Stranding differs from other video games in that it goes beyond the concept of a kill-to-win mindset.

“The concept is so mind-blowing, because it’s not like, you know, ‘Kill everybody and win the game,’ it’s a connecting thing,” says Reedus during his appearance on the B&H Photography podcast. He continues, “It’s like the opposite. And, y’know, it’s so ahead of its time. And there’s elements of social media in it, and the idea is that, y’know, you have so many games… And so many parts of millenial culture, I guess, is being alone in a room. And you lose physical contact with people. This is after that and the re-establishing of that physical contact.”

Just how Reedus’ comments tie in with how Death Stranding plays out is still rather unknown. However, it’s worth noting that the game will reportedly feature online capabilities. This could open several opportunities for Death Stranding, especially since its gameplay has yet to be thoroughly detailed.

Death Stranding Release Date

Besides the comments made by the actor of The Walking Dead, what else is there to know about Kojima’s upcoming video game? According to reports, there are some speculations that the game may see a release this 2018. However, whether or not that will indeed come into fruition is still unclear.

For the uninitiated, Death Stranding is Kojima’s first project under his independent studio, Kojima Productions. It is set to be Kojima’s first release following his departure from Konami. Prior to the fallout between Kojima and Konami, a Silent Hill title was intended to be under development. It also starred Reedus.

Other than the aforementioned actor, Death Stranding also stars Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. Mikkelsen is known for his roles in the television series Hannibal, Marvel’s Doctor Strange, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

In addition to having big names such as Reedus and Mikkelsen, Kojima is also working with notable film director and producer Guillermo del Toro. Interestingly, both del Toro and Kojima sat in the director’s seat for the next instalment in the Silent Hills series before it was cancelled.
