With the news finally out that Sting was about to come out in WWE 2k15, people were abuzz about the game. It only comes naturally since Sting wasn?t a part of the WWE roster until 2014 according to an interview he gave to the Daily Mirror. Since then, the rest is history. Steve Borden, the wrestler we all know as the enigmatic Sting, will be available for WWE 2k15 as a pre-order character.
This is still a big thing. Despite having said that he was already a part of the WWE family, Sting had never before wrestled for any promotion under WWE (unless you count the final show of WCW Nitro where they were already under WWF/WWE). This inclusion of him opens a whole new possibility for the WWE and the professional wrestling entertainment world in general, since last year?s WWE 2k14 was a virtual showcase of WrestleMania history, as told by the game, and the Streak, which was Undertaker?s previous undefeated run in WrestleMania matches.
Now that Sting?s joining the party, we can finally have a discussion over whether some wrestlers from the WWE side of the fence have a chance with him. Particularly, in the game, there are storylines to be observed, and backstories to be watched. Here are some characters who could be good additions to the roster of 2k15, joining Sting.
Jimmy ?Superfly? Snuka
?Superfly? Snuka, father of current Diva Tamina, could be a worthy addition to the roster of the current WWE game. A big man who had the moves of most cruiserweights plying their trade now in the WWE, Snuka introduced a high-flying style during a time when WWF wrestlers were more known for their bruising clotheslines and suplexes. His trademark ?Superfly Splash? was a hit among future icons Mick Foley, Tommy Dreamer, and the Sandman. They were inspired to become wrestlers when they saw the move done at the Madison Square Garden. Now wouldn?t you want to hit that move on a number of characters possibly joining this year?s roster?
In spite of his troubles, Sean Waltman, better known early in his days as the 1-2-3 Kid and later on as X-Pac would be a great addition to an already colorful roster. As the 1-2-3 Kid, he was credited for creating quite the buzz in the cruiserweight division, which he further brought to light as the high-flying X-Pac, a member of the controversial Degeneration-X family, despite not being one of its founding members. With two of his personas being really good wrestlers, it would be nice to see them facing off in the ring.
Who wouldn?t forget Curt Hennig, son of WWE legend Larry ?The Axe? Hennig and WWE Superstar Curtis Axel?s dad? He wasn?t named ?Mr. Perfect? for nothing. He was a tremendously great technical wrestler as well as being hailed as one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions of all time, back when winning it meant something. It might be a far-cry, but Curtis against Mr. Perfect and the Axe? Wouldn?t that be a sight to see.
?Rowdy? Roddy Piper
This list wouldn?t be complete without the inclusion of ?Hot Rod?, one of the dirtiest to ever play the game. Even while he was a heel, fans can?t help but like the Wildman-persona Roddy Piper brought his character. Players can relive his feud with Hogan as a heel, or they can even watch him go one on one with Ric Flair, the only other guy to ever hold a candle to him. He was also notable for bringing over Y2J?s charisma; a possible match in the making in this WWE 2k15, perhaps?
Jake ?The Snake? Roberts
Ah, the innovator of the DDT, and one of the most famous and celebrated characters to ever join the WWE roster. Roberts was one of those who made the WWE into a colorful madhouse of zany, yet genuinely talented characters. He was also instrumental in bringing Austin to his ?Austin 3:16? persona. Add to that his constant usage of his pet snake Damien, draping him over prone and defeated opponents. If only WWE 2k15 can bring his wily psychological style to the game, which it could, perhaps?
