The Muppets TV Controversy: ABC ?Ruined? The Show? Moms Say Yes!

This was the statement made by ?One Million Moms? about ?the Muppets? return to network television on Tuesday. While some people are excited and looking forward to the return of the favorite children?s show, the pro-family group ?One Million Moms? seem to think that ?the Muppets? should be banned.

?The Muppets? new show on ABC centers on the everyday life of the cast and their antics. ?1MM suspects that there are going to be a lot of shocked moms and dads when they discover that the family-friendly Muppets of the 1970s are no more,? One Million Moms said in a statement.

?ABC hopes children watch the show and predict they would enjoy some of the humor, but 1MM would disagree. It is not the show it once was,? the group exclaimed. ?ABC has ruined ?The Muppets.? How many parents want to explain the punchline of sexually charged jokes to young children??

The show will become the first regular television program in nearly 20 years, dating back to the 30-minute shows of 1970?s ?The Muppets.? ?Many parents unknowingly will let their children watch an episode only to find out its perverted nature too late, unless they are alerted ahead of time,? according to a statement from One Million Moms.

?Meanwhile, parents will have to explain to confused children that the program they once were allowed to watch is no longer a nice show. This would have been completely unnecessary if ABC had made the program follow its original family-friendly design.?

One Million Moms is right to expect a more adult feel to the show, but if the teaser and promos are any indication, then it?s safe to say the ABC is not really aiming for children, but at the generation where the adults today want to relive their childhood and remember ?the Muppets? in a rather unconventional way.
